nother wotta weekend

After slavin' on articles all week, on Sat., I went to WPMD off sched because Tony Allen said he'd be in, which he was - finally - half dead, as he'd waked miles after finding no bus to take. So we drove him home after the show. That night, Ms. Megablogger and I stayed home as I recall.

Some of which happened pissed off Stark, but I can't be blamed.

Sunday, she and our daughter went to show with Dave the G in his truck. That nite, went to potluck, hung out with some interesting folk - Ernie the teacher and his Margaret and we talked about the appliance repair guy who's son is in Tehachapi and Ernie tried to, but failed, to visit.

Summer Winter Spring Fall, the spritely one was there, dancing around 3 tons of peace and let's protect the kids. Fine wit me.

Monday was...well, Monday. NFL football this weekend.

Genealogy strikes twice

Wotta week.

Friday. I've been in touch with Peter J. of V... writing liners notes on K... label artists and various CDs of the material. Friday, I got several CDs from V... and 5 CDs from Ace for doing some slight research. CDs went with me to the station.

On Sat., after my regular CD spinning exercise - in P.M., I picked up David Porter at bus stop on Pioneer and Del Amo, navigated Little India, got to the station later, but alive. Robby & the Nurse were there, sat in for awhile, then left, David and I did 2 hours of talking, but it was pretty rough.

Sunday was a different matter. Paul & Judy came by and that changed my life. We went to Tantaloon (or sumpin' like that), had $2 sliders (Kobe burgers, etc.), spent $67, we chipped in and left. But while sipping wine in the far back table, Judy talked me into getting into genealogy again, so I did.

I found out I was dead. A family site showed me dying on Sept. 11, '65, so I wrote the woman who posted that, and after apologizing, she put me in touch with a cousin I was only vaguely aware of, Fred S. in Walnut Creek - son of Blanche, my father's sister. What a revelation. He told me that my great grandmother - Phenie Woolsey was 100% American Indian - Shenandoah Tribe - and that I have another cousin - Norma Campbell - daughter of John, though he's not sure of her husband's name. So far, attempts to reach her have bombed out.

Called Heather...she was on an overnite jaunt to NYC, she seemed interested. On her way to Harlem. Barb left today to see her.

More, much more coming.

Lately, it's been hot with heat and weather's pretty oppressive also. Writing articles all week.

Wilson lunch and New Jersey

Went to Wal Mart today to buy a good walking radio, found one & headphones for $5. Hard to beat, so I didn't. Then to Los Al to lunch with good friends, saw Al Valera for the first time since 1960, and he hasn't changed that much. Very good time, Bill, Al, Ron Willis and me rounded out the lunch bunch.

This evening, after considerable negotiation and strum and drang, we worked out a trip to NJ on Oct. 14, and Heather will arrange a JFK pickup! That's the amazing part. From the depths to the heights in an afternoon.

Heard Huggy Boy died, hope not true.

weekend

And a busy one it was. Friday, showed up at Geno's happy hour and was happy I did. Met some interesting folks and hung with Gene & the Mrs., Jackie Harris, his secty, others for about an hour, 2 Coronas and bar food later, left the scene. They seemed to enjoy my blues fest. article.

Saturday, we piled into the Volvo SWagon and showed up at Friscos at about 5:30. She insisted on ordering from the bar, which totalled the tab upwards a whole lot, but since we were comped, it mattered little...except Jay vetoed the article, no advert. support. Oh well.

Sunday, Dav and I went to the jazz concert at Astor Events Center. Saw Poncho Sanchez, delightful afternoon. Sylvia went to Red Hat at Pantaloon Rest., also had good time, spent more dough.

The jazz radio thing is heating up, cease & desist against a website where the station's fortunes are discussed...so they're pulling it! Wow.

This week, fun, walking and writing.

Corona, Frisco and jazz

I'm looking forward to a busy week. Last week, not so much, I don't think.

Lessee, summing up, here and there, in and out, basically, I friggin' forgot what the hell happened to me or to my loved ones.

It wasn't so hot, that's for sure.

Last night, met up with Gene Kinsey and his band of merry pranksters at O'Malley's, site of the previous Hennessey's in Seal Beach. Actually found a close-by parking spot! Good sign. Inside, were Geno & his secty, wife and friends arrived later, pretty good time and food had by all. Corona beers, Gene picked up tab. Could be fun practice.

Today, Friscos. Tomorrow, jazz.
